Over the last few years, drop shipping has become one of the leading trends in the eCommerce business. There are a few online courses out there, which can teach you how to get into drip shipping. The most popular among them being eCom Elite.

There’s a lot of hype around eCom Elites. Many people claim that it is one of the most comprehensive and affordable drip shipping courses out there, but does it live up to its name? That is what we are about to find out.

This is my module by module breakdown of Ecom Elites. I've done just about everything online going on 20 years, so I've seen a lot of crap courses out there, and I've seen a lot of well done courses that even an old savvy vet like myself can learn from.  Enjoy my Ecom Elites review and feel free to reach out to me personally with any questions.

Who is Franklin Hatchett?

This made him a substantial amount of money, but he didn't feel like he was quite there yet. So, he got into affiliate marketing. Here, he earned a commission on the products (not he's) that he sold on his platform. Unfortunately, the affiliate firm closed down, and he had to make other substantial plans.

They say every cloud has a silver lining, and Franklin was about to get his. After going back to the drawing board, seeking to reinvent himself in other profitable ventures, he got into drop shipping. Franklin operated his new idea using Facebook ads.

At the time, drop shipping was not very popular, but franklin made it work through determination and sheer force of will. He now owns several drop shipping stores, some of which he uses as an example during his course.

As you might have guessed, his success did not come overnight, but he has three basic rules for success. They include:

After registering to the eCom Elite course, one of the first things you’ll notice is Franklin’s no-nonsense, and straight to the point approach in his course. This straightforward approach is very beneficial because you get to grasp a lot of information quickly, with limited distractions.

Another great thing about Franklin's course is that he uses real-life examples from his websites and experiences instead of just telling you what to do. This gives you a clearer understanding of his concept and enables you to derive a few ideas that you can implement on your drop shipping business.

The course features a comments section under each video. You can make use of the comments section to ask questions directly. Cool right? Franklin also utilizes the comments on this section to improve his course.

Goal badges

When you reach certain milestones in the course's duration, such as creating your first Shopify store, you get a badge.

This acts as a motivation for anybody taking the course, and the recognition feels pretty good too.

Videos request

This course also features a videos request section where students can request videos elaborating certain areas that they feel like they need to understand better. Franklin then records and posts the requested videos.

Regularly updated videos in the membership area

These videos cover anything from ongoing discussions to Q&A sessions.

He also asserts his belief in value for money and assures you that you will have gotten your money's worth and more by the end of the course.

The video lasts 9 minutes and 43 seconds, and then you get to the good stuff!

Like any other course, eCom Elites is broken down into several modules to spread the information apart and enable you to grasp it better.

Module 01: eCom introduction

Franklin introduces it as the best money making course online, which is partly true, considering its comprehensiveness and the fact that it costs almost ten times less than other dropshipping online courses out there.

So, how does it compare with the rest? To answer this question, Franklin makes it clear that the eCom Elites course is for beginners. People experienced in the field might find some of the information provided on the course irrelevant.

However, if you are a beginner, this is just about the best introduction to drop shipping.

This module is divided into two videos.

Video 1: eCom introduction

In this video, Franklin;

Explains the meaning of drop shipping and what it’s all about. He then explains why he is doing it. He describes how the laptop lifestyle has enabled him to become his own boss and work from anywhere in the world. He also says that in drops hipping, you can make money in your sleep.

Franklin also claims to be the one who made drop shipping via Shopify, a viable business model. Most people found out about drop shipping in 2015 when he talked about it in a YouTube video. The video went viral and got more than 300K views.

Franklin then goes ahead and explains two ways you can use to sell your products. They are;

Here, Franklin stresses that although this method will make you money, you can't expect to get rich quickly. He does, however, promise to teach you a long-term approach that might just get you there.

Video 2: take a look at the results.

In the second video, Franklin shows you a few results from his students. He also states that he is yet to make his first million in profits. The reason he does this so often during the beginning of the course is to limit your expectations to manageable goals.

Some of his students make between $200 and $1000 in sales daily. This proves that although Franklin's business module won't make you a millionaire overnight, with hard work and determination, you'll be able to make a living off it, and someday you might get there.

I like Franklin’s approach in the way he gives advice. Instead of selling you an unachievable dream, he gives you the truth straight up to your face. He dismisses the unfounded claims of so-called ‘gurus' that tell you that you can become successful overnight by getting into drop shipping.

This module contains lots of useful tips, so try not to skip the content.

Video 1: start your store and unlock it.

The main reason why Shopify is so popular is that it’s straightforward to use, especially when you are in the eCom Elites course. Franklin offers you a free 21-day trial of Shopify, as opposed to the standard 14-day trial period. On top of that, you also get a 10% discount for a year.

Franklin also shows you how to create and set up your Shopify store. He directs you how to unlock it. This is a significant advantage when it comes to online drop shipping courses because most of them leave you to figure it out.

You'll need your credit card details because although it's a free trial, unlocking a Shopify account requires you to key in your credit card details.

Video 2: General or niche store?

Franklin explains the difference between the two and gives you some advice on selecting the best one according to the products you want to sell.

In this video, Franklin gives you some great advice on where to use Shopify payments and where not to. He then discusses the two alternatives he uses and tells you why it is crucial to have an alternative payment method other than PayPal.

Video 5: Setting up your shipping

In this video, Franklin tells you about two shipping options that you can offer your customers. You can offer your customers either;

  • Free + shipping rates
  • Free shipping rates

Franklin goes on ahead to tell you which shipping option to use and when to use it.

He is very thorough in the way he delivers information. For example, in this video, he also tells you how about weight limits, and how to give away a free product and make money on the shipping.

Video 6: Customizing your checkout page

In this video, Franklin shows you how to improve the look of your checkout page. He also shows you how to add trust badges, includes a banner or logo, and sets the processing information to your liking.

Video 7: Essential plugins

The pre-installed Shopify apps don’t always do the trick. So, Franklin shares his preferred apps and plugins. The apps Frank advises you to check suggests products, create urgency for buyers to buy, get email addresses from clients, etc.

Some of these apps are free, but some you have to subscribe at a fee.

Video 8: Setting up product automation

In this video, Franklin shows you how to use Orberlo with AliExpress products. Understanding this enables you to import products quickly to your Shopify store.

Another cool thing about Oberlo is that when a customer buys something from your store, it makes direct orders to AliExpress, which is effortless to use, and its faster than ordering from your suppliers through Shopify.

Video 9: Setting up abandon cart emails

Sometimes a customer may fail to go through with the payment after selecting certain items from your shop. Franklin helps you set up abandon cart emails to entice the customers to purchase the items they had selected.

He advises you on the best app to use and shows you how to set it up. He also shows you how to word your initial email and set up subsequent emails that include special offers and discounts.

Video 10: Creating an upsell

Upselling works by offering buyers related products at the checkpoint. In this video, Franklin tells you about his favorite app and shows you how to set it up.

Video 11: Branded domain setup

Here, Franklin shows you how to get your domain for just $10 annually. He gives you a step by step illustration of which site to visit, how to buy a domain name, and how to link the domain to your Shopify store.

Video 12: Email setup

Franklin shows you how to get a free professional email address, so you don't have to use a Gmail account.

Video 13: Customer service

Excellent customer service is crucial for the success of your business. It can either make it or break it.

Therefore, you have to figure out a way to reply to queries and answer questions in the most efficient and timely way possible.

Franklin shows you the best app to use to set up a contact form that can be used both for support and on the contact page. He also shows you how to set up a FAQ page in detail.

Video 14: Store funnel

Franklin urges you to set up your store like a sales funnel. This encourages visitors to buy, as opposed to just hanging around and window shopping.

Unlike other experts who encourage you to set up a five-stop process, franklin advises you to set up a four-stop process.

If you have ever enrolled in an online eCom course before, you are probably used to presentations. But, coming from Franklin, I’d say it’s a significant setback.

It throws you off your learning curve by introducing a new training method half-way through the course. Some people might find it hard to understand this part.

Key takeaways from module 2

The advice that Franklin gives in this module is simply invaluable. He gives you insights on the best apps to use, why they are the best, and how to set them up.

One of my favorite apps discussed in this module is Oberlo. It automates your ordering and is much easier and faster to use than the Shopify order fulfillment process.

However, you should note that some of the apps discussed in this module are not free, i.e., they require subscriptions.

Module 3 and 4: Facebook

In modules three and four, Franklin shows you how to use Facebook to boost sales. These modules are by far the most extended in the course, with over 10 hours of video. They are also probably the essential modules on the course due to the marketing value they add.

Module 3 is divided into 33 videos, with a total runtime of 7 hours 29 minutes. Due to its length, I'm unable to cover it to its entirety on this post. I will, however, give you the best thing. The summary. That's not so bad, right?

Module four is a continuation of module three in terms of the topic being discussed (Facebook). Franklin dives a little deeper into the subject by sharing secrets on optimization, data mining, bidding, and more.

Some of the methods Franklin shares regarding Facebook marketing on these modules (three & four) include:

  • Setting up Facebook advert accounts.
  • Different advertising methods you can use.
  • Building up your audience through targeting
  • How to set up and use the Facebook pixel
  • How to create and split-test different types of Facebook ads
  • How to read your campaign data. Here, he also shows you how to retarget it if necessary
  • Scaling your campaigns
  • How to bid. Franklin also shares some pretty cool tips on Facebook optimization, like using the power editor, data mining, and more.

Unlike the previous module, Franklin shows you precisely what to do in each step through hands-on practical examples. As I had said earlier, this module is very long and takes even longer time to implement. But, once you're done, you'll see that it was all worth it.

Key takeaways from module 3 & 4

As the most extended module in the course, it is no surprise that it also holds the most importance.

What stands out most in this module(s) is Franklin's attention to detail and the amount of information and advice he conveys. He gives you so much information and tips that you might get confused if you are not keen enough.

Therefore, you should work methodically through the module as you employ all the methods that Franklin teaches you, rather than watching the entire module first, then deciding on the approaches to use.

Another thing that stands out in these modules is how Franklin shows you how to interpret data from your ad campaigns. This information is vital when it comes to improving the effectiveness of your campaigns.

Module 5: Instagram traffic

If you've checked out other drop shipping courses, you've probably noticed that, although they mention Instagram advertising, they don't get into it. On the other hand, Franklin dives deep into the subject and shares some of his most effective and efficient Instagram advertisement methods.

This module's total duration is only 1 hour, 12 minutes, and is divided into seven short videos.

Video 1: Using Instagram for traffic

In this video, Franklin introduces you to some of the methods that he uses on Instagram to get more sales. A good example is when he reached out to a couple of Instagram influencers and made more than $1000 in sales in a concise time. The best thing about this is that he did it on a meager budget.

He explains everything you need to get started and how to find the best influencers on Instagram.

Video 2: Instagram retarget blueprint

Here, Franklin shows you how to get the most out of your influencer posts. Once you create a custom audience base, you can get the best results from your influencer posts by retargeting them. Retargeting this customer group is very cheap and pays out great.

Video 3: Finding influencers

Franklin uses his phone to show you how to find influencers on Instagram on a step by step video.

He also gives some useful tips on how to contact influencers and find related pages such as the one you are on.

Video 4: Instagram influencer pricing

Influencer pricing on Instagram varies greatly depending on the niche, and reach. Franklin shows you a table containing what to look for and what you can expect to pay. This video is very informative and comes in handy whenever you want to negotiate with an influencer.

Video 5: Finding influencers with Google

Franklin points out that although most people use Instagram to find influencers, you can also get them using Google. The only difference is that you will need to put a little more work into it, but in the end, you will end up with influencers that you would not have seen on Instagram itself.

Video 6: running Instagram adverts the right way

Franklin takes you through the process of creating an Instagram ad. He also tells you what works and what doesn’t when it comes to Instagram advertising.

Video 7: Scheduling Instagram posts to stay engaged

Franklin introduces you to a cloud-based program that he uses to post multiple social media platforms on his accounts. He stresses that although it takes a while to build a following, it provides free advertising and only takes a few seconds.

Module 6: organic Google traffic (SEO)

Most courses out there only cover how to increase the traffic to your store through Facebook and Instagram. They don’t mention organic traffic, and when they do, they don’t give you much information to go with.

Video 1: SEO Introduction

The purpose of this module is to generate organic traffic to your site by using specific keywords. The best thing about this is that it is targeted, making it a very effective advertisement method.

Franklin gives you three necessary steps to organic success.

  • Keyword research
  • Page optimization
  • Backlinks

These steps are explained in detail in the following videos.

Video 2: Keyword research

In this video, Franklin stresses the importance of keyword research and gives you advice on researching and picking the best keyword. He also shares his favorite keyword tool.

Video 3: Researching the top ten

Franklin advises that you research the top ten, ignoring amazon and Wikipedia after picking your best keywords. Try to see what makes them rank so high and emulate it. It could be their layout, images, content, etc.

Video 4: Ranking structure

Franklin shares some refreshing hints on where to direct your backlinks. He also shows you how to create a post in your Shopify store and using LSI keywords in your post.

Video 5: building backlinks

Backlinks are simply links from other sites that point to a page on your website. Google uses backlinks to gauge the relevance of your site. If you have backlinks from authoritative sites, then Google gives you some credit, and your page gains an advantage in terms of ranking.

Franklin also introduces you to PBN and Web 2.0 backlinks and outsources to get more backlinks. He also talks about the importance of anchor texts and how to use them.

Video 6: Getting white hat backlinks

In this video, Franklin tells you what white hat backlinks are and why they are so essential. He then shows you how to get white-hat backlinks using traditional methods like guest posts, or doing some research and contacting high traffic pages with quality landing pages. He also shares the details of someone you can contact for white hat backlinks.

Video 7: Module recap

This video is a recap of the module so far. He tells you what to focus on and what to avoid. He also shares some eCom Elite webpages that you can use to purchase backlinks.

Video 8: SEO hack (bonus)

Franklin shows you a free tool on Google Adwords that you can use to tell which keywords your competitors are using.

Module 7: Email marketing

Most drop shipping courses focus on one, maybe two ways of marketing but not eCom Elite. Here, Franklin gives you all the tools you need and more. As the name suggests, this module focuses primarily on email marketing and is about 2 hours 31 minutes long.

Video 1: Email marketing intro

Franklin states that to generate sales, having a vast email list doesn't matter. What matters is having a responsive email list. In this video, he shows you how to build a responsive email list. It could be from op ups, lead magnets, abandon carts, and purchases. He closes up the video by telling you what you will learn in this module.

Video 2: collecting leads

Here, Franklin shows you the best way to collect leads. According to him, the best way to receive leads is by using lead magnets. He also shares the app that he uses to generate and manage email marketing campaigns.

Franklin uses the following business model. First, he builds relationships with those in his mailing list. He targets them through:

  • Product launch
  • Auto-responders
  • Standard emails

Video 3: Creating a landing page

Franklin shows you how to create ‘thank you’ and opt-in pages. He also shares the software that he uses to build his pages. He gives you a step by step illustration on how to create pages that convert using this program.

Video 4: Creating a list

Franklin tells you the importance of creating two lists. A leads list and a Shopify list. He does this because both lists have different audiences. He also shares his preferred app and shows you the types of emails you should send your clients from both lists.

He goes on to show you how to automate the process. This program saves you a lot of time in terms of responding to emails. It enables you to set parameters such as what happens when you receive an opt-in form, how long to wait before sending a response, what happens when you receive no response, and much more.

Video 5: your Shopify store list

Franklin goes into more detail on how to create and set up your Shopify list. He also shares his preferred app that automates the process and does most of the work for you. He also shows you how to time-base autoresponders and newsletters.

Video 6: your lead generation list

Like in the previous video, franklin goes into more detail on how to set up your lead generation list and set it up.

Video 7: Email automation

He’d mentioned it before, but here, he goes more in-depth on how to do it. In this video, he explains the difference between automation and autoresponder tools on his favorite app and some of the best programs to use.

Video 8: Create a lead magnet

Franklin shows you how to create a simple, free lead magnet that can boost traffic and get more buyers from your email list. He makes a lead magnet PDF and stresses the importance of keeping it simple and not overthinking it.

Video 9: Creating a lead Facebook magnet

Franklin goes into detail on how to create a lead Facebook campaign on Facebook using a lead magnet. He uses his Facebook ad campaign as an example and shows you how to set it up.

Video 10: product launch formula

Here, Franklin shows you one of the most underrated yet effective marketing methods. He shows you how to set up product launches and shares a few examples of the emails he sends out.

Franklin sends out an email a week before releasing the product and a day to the release date to create suspense. On the release date, he sends out another email with a discount. This works out and generates a significant number of sales.

He also sends out different emails with discounts and incentives after the launch to keep the momentum going

One of the best things about franklin's preferred app is that it comes with various templates that you can use to save time, and improve your mails' general appearance.

Franklin's method for coupon leads involves offering a coupon or voucher in return for a prospective buyer's email.

Module 8: Business and sales

This module has a total duration of only 57 minutes. It's not very essential, but it's worth visiting. This is because Franklin discuses one of those topics that most ‘Gurus' out there don't—running a business.

Video 1: Increase your sales

This video is an overview of what to expect in the module. The module deals with getting more sales, running a business, and also touches on taxes.

Franklin starts by telling you how he has been trying to sell things since high school and has been in the online business since 2010.

He then goes on to explain conversion and discusses what helps you sell your products. An excellent example of one of the tips he gives is, “don’t describe your product, and just sell it.”

Video 2: Upscale with VAs

Franklin explains how you can upscale your business by outsourcing many of the small tasks to virtual assistants.

Some of the points he discusses here are;

  • Where to find a VA
  • How to train a VA
  • How much you should pay your VA
  • The jobs you should NOT give a VA.

Video 3: Business 101

In this video, he gives you an overview of how online business works and touches a bit on taxes. He explains it from a New Zealand perspective so that the rules might differ in your state or country. He also advises you to seek an accountant once you start making money.

In the video, he covers the following:

  • Do you have to register your business?
  • Is having an American bank account necessary?
  • Which is the best type of business?
  • Limited liability, or Limited Liability Company?
  • Do you need to fill in and submit a W8 form?

Video 4: Having a business goal

He stresses the importance of having business goals. They can range from

  • Setting business goals gives you the motivation you need to achieve your pre-determined targets quicker.

If you need some insider drop shipping info or a look into Franklin's secret success recipes, then you'll love this module, all 52 minutes of it.

The module entails a wide range of topics that could help boost your sales. They include:

  • Warranties – they help promote trust and sales.
  • Coupons – they help increase your sales
  • Review websites – work great as leverage over your competition.
  • How to build a massive email list and huge fan pages
  • How to spy on your competition on Facebook

Video 10: update module ongoing videos

The reason Franklin made this module is because, in the online business, things change constantly.

Since Facebook is continuously updated and improved, it only makes sense that your campaigns should also improve.

This module includes updated videos with new methods to be used. This bonus module is super beneficial since updated info on changes to Shopify, Instagram, Facebook, and Google makes outdated course content irrelevant.

Module 10: Video request

Here, Franklin stresses that if you are stuck on something, or need help in a particular area, you can request a new video to clarify the issue. Some of the videos he has covered already include:

  • Using multiple Facebook accounts
  • What to do with a PPE after conversion
  • Adwords and Shopify
  • Tips on ad copy

Franklin really goes out of his way on this one in ensuring that his students get their money's worth. This module is beneficial for newcomers in the dropshipping business and seasoned traders who want to improve their skills.

Module 11: Weekly videos

This module deals with Q & A questions. Here, franklin answers various questions that have been asked by his students on a wide range of topics. The questions cover things like being banned from Adwords, Facebook, to spying on flier sites.

This module's video quality is not as refined as those on previous modules, but they still offer some pretty useful advice.

These videos are not suitable for looking for specific info, but they are great bonuses for refining your knowledge on various aspects of online marketing and drop shipping.

Does Drop shipping still work?

Drop shipping is the first hustle of many online entrepreneurs worldwide, so the answer to this question is a resounding yes!

To give you a clear understanding of drop shipping, here are a few examples of drop shipping pros and cons.

  1. It helps you come to market quicker

It takes just as long to post a product in inventory as it does to post a product on an eCommerce platform. Regardless of that fact, drop shipping can make you come to the market much quicker.

This is because drop shipping eliminates the wait time between when the product is shipped from the distributor to the merchant. In some cases, the shipping period might take a few weeks. On the other hand, with drop shipping, you can start shipping when you publish a product on your eCommerce site.

  1. You get to offer a wider variety of products.

Drop shipping allows you to offer a wider variety of products.

Imagine a retailer who sells coffee and tea in a physical boutique.This retailer is limited to a particular range of products and services that he can offer. Imagine another retailer who does the same, only difference being that the second retailer does his business online.

The second retailer has more leeway and can offer more products because the space of inventory does not limit him.

Offering a wide range of products can prove beneficial in marketing since you can give each category of products, its landing page and utilize that opportunity to rank higher in search engines.
